To be Certified Master Naturalist you will be required to volunteer 40 hours and take eight additional hours of advanced training each year.
Advanced Training Opportunities
Several possible Advanced Training opportunities available this summer near the Waco Area....
Baylor University, in partnership with the Lake Waco Wetlands and the Cameron Park Zoo has five educator workshops in Waco planned for the summer. Many of these trainings may be fitting for your chapter to approve as Texas Master Naturalist Advanced Training. June 12th- Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) facilitator training-Lake Waco Wetlands - 9 am to 3 pm-- $20 registration includes curriculum and lunch. An award-winning water education program for K-12
July 7th- POW! (Planning of Wetlands)-Lake Waco Wetlands- 9 am to 3 pm- $50 includes materials and curriculum guide. How to build small habitat wetlands and incorporate them into student activities. K-12
Aug 12th- Active Strategies for Environmental Education- 10 am to 3 pm- Cameron Park Zoo- $10 includes programming and materials. Focus on actively engaging reluctant or hard-to-reach learners. K-12
Aug 13th- Leopold Education Project- 9 am to 3:30 pm- Lake Waco Wetlands- $50 includes teachers guide and classroom materials, journals and lunch. Uses a classic environmental literary work to reach students with a conservation message.6-12th grade
Aug 14th- Climate Change: Facing the Future- 10 am to 3:30 pm- Mayborn Museum Complex- $10 includes programming, materials and lunch. Engage students in understanding climate change from multiple perspectives. 6-10th grade focus, others welcome.
